Our AccesSolutions program was established in July of 2005 to enable the Corporation for Independent Living to enhance the quality of life for a significant number of financially eligible people with physical disabilities by providing modular ramps to those who can least afford them.  We are working to build the capacity of our organization to respond to the immediate and urgent needs of people with mobility impairments throughout Connecticut who are at or below 80% of median income.  To the best of our knowledge there is no other organization providing modular ramps to individuals with disabilities in Connecticut.

Through the AccesSolutions program we purchase and install modular ramps to restore independence to people who have become injured or disabled.  The average cost of a modular ramp is between $5,000 and $6,000.   Many of these ramps will be used for multiple recipients which enables us to build an inventory so we can respond quickly to emergency ramp requests.  When funds are available we are able to have the appropriate ramp installed within one to two weeks.  AccesSolutions funds are also used to provide lifts, permanent ramps, and other essential home and/or vehicle modifications to income-eligible applicants with disabilities.

Our annual golf tournament, CILGOLF2007 was held on August 13, 2007.  We raised $92,000 that will benefit the AccesSolutions program.  We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of our sponsors and participants.

AccesSolutions offers donors with the opportunity to make a profound impact with a modest contribution, all of which is used for the direct benefit of program recipients.  A ramp fills a critical need because it represents the freedom to come and go independently and safely, provides relief from structurally imposed confinement and restores the opportunity to participate in daily life.  For about $5,000 you can help create an accessible life for someone in need.
